Category B & 2025 Resurfacing Projects
The City recently awarded both the Category B & 2025 Resurfacing Projects to Michigan Paving Materials Company (MPM). These projects are being undertaken to resurface several asphalt roadways throughout the City of St. Joseph by removing ~1.5-2" of the existing asphalt and replacing it with new asphalt. The resurfacing work will require short duration road and lane closures during the removal and the placement of the asphalt. During the closures, homes that front on selected roadways will not have access to their driveways. Please plan to park on a nearby side street if the vehicle will be needed the day of the closure. Overnight parking restrictions will be waived for the duration of the project. Please do not park on the street the night before a roadway is scheduled to be resurfaced.
Important Information for Residents Along the Project Area
- Work will be completed under lane closures with flaggers to maintain traffic flow. No full road closures are expected.
- Lane closures will only be in place while the contractor is completing the work and roadways will be fully open at the end of each day.
- Please use caution when driving on milled surfaces — they will be rougher, with approximately 2-inch drops at milling limits.
- Work can start as early as 7 AM.
- Do not park on the street the night before a roadway is scheduled for work.
- If you are concerned about being delayed leaving in the morning, please park on a nearby street not included in the project (where available).
- On street parking restrictions will be waived in project areas for the duration of the project.
- Do not run sprinklers the night before or morning of the scheduled paving.
