St. Joseph Municipal Band

St. Joseph Municipal Band Concerts Sundays at 7pm June 21 to August 31, 2025

Our 2025 season will begin on Sunday June 29th at 7:00pm. Concerts will take place each Sunday through August 31, 2025. Special concerts will also be held on the 4th of July and on Labor Day (September 1). All concerts begin at 7:00pm and take place at the John E.N. Howard Bandshell, 550 Port Street, St. Joseph MI. No tickets are required, and admission is always free for all Municipal Band performances.

The St. Joseph Municipal Jazz Band will perform Friday August 15, 7:00pm at the John E.N. Howard Bandshell as a part of the Friday Night Concert Series sponsored by St. Joseph Today.

The St. Joseph Municipal Band is one of only three tax-supported municipal bands in Michigan.  A millage to support the band has been levied since voted in by the citizens of the City in 1936.  Band concerts are free to all.  

John E. N. Howard, was conductor of the Municipal Band beginning in 1948 through 1987; he also was the St. Joseph High School Band Director until he retired from that position in 1963. The Municipal Band was conducted by Dr. Donald Moely from 1987 until he retired at the end of the 2022 season.

Dr. Jonathan Korzun became Director of the Municipal Band with the 2023 season. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Korzun served as Director of Bands at Southwestern Michigan College, retiring from that position in 2019.
