St. Joseph Municipal Band

St. Joseph Municipal Band, 7:00 p.m. Sundays, June 28 to September 6

Our 2026 season will begin on Sunday, June 28 at 7:00 p.m. Concerts will take place each Sunday through September 6. Special holiday concerts will also be held on the 4th of July and on Labor Day (September 7). Admission is always free for all Municipal Band performances.

The St. Joseph Municipal Band is one of only three tax-supported municipal bands in Michigan.  A millage to support the band has been levied since voted in by the citizens of the City in 1936.  Band concerts are free to all.  

John E. N. Howard, was conductor of the Municipal Band beginning in 1948 through 1987; he also was the St. Joseph High School Band Director until he retired from that position in 1963. The Municipal Band was conducted by Dr. Donald Moely from 1987 until he retired at the end of the 2022 season.

Dr. Jonathan Korzun became Director of the Municipal Band with the 2023 season. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Korzun served as Director of Bands at Southwestern Michigan College, retiring from that position in 2019.
