Parking
Our pay-by-plate parking system allows state-of-the-art equipment to monitor parking areas by scanning your license plate. The scanners installed on a police vehicle will read your plate number and alert the officer if your vehicle does not have a permit, pass or has not paid for parking. If not, you will receive a citation.
Because the system works by reading your license plate, it is not necessary to display parking receipt. Please be careful entering your license plate number into the kiosk, as an incorrect entry will mean your plate will not be recognized.
Downtown Parking
Parking is paid in specific on-street spaces from June 12–Labor Day. Click here to view a parking map of downtown.
Visitors may purchase increments of time up to 3 hours or a season pass. Downtown season passes are $50 (note: downtown season passes are not applicable to parks parking). Please note that downtown parking kiosks are card-only and do not accept cash.
City residents and property owners may register for free parking at City parks and downtown by completing the City Resident Parking Permit Application online or in-person at City Hall. Click here for more information on parking for City residents.
Parking at City Parks
Parking is paid from April 1–October 31 at the following City park locations:
- Tiscornia Beach
- Lions Park
- Kiwanis Park
- 2nd Street Beach
- Whirlpool Compass Fountain (Elm Street lot)
Visitors may purchase time by the hour or day, or purchase a season parks pass from the parking meter located at the parks by entering their license plate number and paying by credit card or cash. Please note that for cash transactions, the machines do not give change. Parks season passes are $40 (note: parks season passes are not applicable to downtown parking).
Once you have paid for parking at one of our parks, the time you have paid for is valid at all parks locations listed above. For example, if you purchase time at the Elm Street lot and then decide to go to Tiscornia Beach, the remaining time will still apply to your vehicle. You do not have to purchase separate time for each parks location.
City residents and property owners may register for free parking at City parks and downtown by completing the City Resident Parking Permit Application online or in-person at City Hall. Click here for more information on parking for City residents.
