Fraud Alert: The City of St. Joseph has been notified of several fraudulent invoices pretending to be from City departments requesting payment via wire transfer. This is a scam—do not respond. If you receive any questionable communications from the City requesting payment, please call City Hall at 269-983-5541 prior to sending money.

About

The Inspection Department consists of four full-time staff members and three contract inspectors.  The Department has four main areas of focus which include:

1. Reviewing, issuing and inspecting permits associated with building, mechanical, electrical and plumbing work in addition to accessory structures, fences and sign permits;
2. Administers the Residential Rental Programs - stays of one month longer or short-term rental with stays of less than one month;
3. The annual property maintenance program; and
4. Code enforcement.
