Parking: visitors
Welcome to St. Joseph! When it comes to parking downtown, there are many options available to you—both free and paid spaces. Click here and view a map of downtown parking options.
Parking on street directly in front of a shop or restaurant
Paid parking is available on State Street and some side streets between June 1 and Labor Day from 10:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
Parking is $2 per hour and time can be purchased up to 3 hours.
ADA-designated spaces are always free for anyone with the proper placard, sticker or license plate.
Season pass
You can also choose to purchase a season pass for $50. A season pass allows you to pay once and park for three-hour increments on street in front of shops anytime June 1–Labor Day. Season passes can be purchased in person at City Hall or at an on-street parking kiosk.
Parking in a public lot or another free space
Most parking downtown is free, including in City-owned lots and along Lake Boulevard, Elm Street, Port Street and more. Please note that most on-street spaces and some City lots have a 3-hour maximum time limit. Additional 30-minute spaces have also been added on street for anyone making a quick trip downtown.
Parking in the Elm Street lot next to the Whirlpool Compass Fountain
Paid parking is available at certain City parks April 1–October 31. You can purchase time through an on-site kiosk or via the Passport Parking mobile app. Paying to park at one of our parks will automatically give you entry to all of our parks for the amount of time purchased. Downtown parking time must be purchased separately.
Parking at Silver Beach
If you plan to spend your day at Silver Beach, we recommend parking in that lot. Day passes or season passes are avaialble at the entry booth. For more information, visit the Berrien County website.
