3rd of July fireworks parking restrictions and traffic patterns
St. Joseph, Michigan, June 30, 2026—The City of St. Joseph fireworks show will take place at dusk (10:00–10:15 p.m.) on Friday, July 3. Fireworks will be launched from the south pier. In order to protect attendees’ safety, both north and south piers will be closed, as well as portions of Tiscornia and Silver Beach.
Motorists are reminded that there is limited parking below the bluff, as well as restricted parking in the downtown residential area. Parking will not be permitted on the south and east sides of residential streets above the bluff both west and east of Main Street. Temporary no parking signs will be posted to assist with the flow of traffic and pedestrian safety. All parking restrictions will be strictly enforced.
Boaters should be mindful that the Blossomland and Bicentennial Bridges will be closed from 10:00 p.m. to post-fireworks traffic clearance (around 1:00 a.m.) to vessels needing vertical clearance.
Following the fireworks, the following traffic exit patterns will be in place:
Traffic north of the river will be detoured north on M-63 to Klock Road. When detoured on Klock Road, motorists are asked not to re-route southbound through downtown St. Joseph via Main Street in Benton Harbor and M-63. Anyone looking to go south should find an alternate route avoiding downtown St. Joseph due to the heavy post-fireworks traffic congestion. The southbound lanes on M-63 at Klock Road will be closed for a short period of time to allow traffic to clear in downtown St. Joseph.
Traffic south of the river will be directed onto Main Street from Port Street, Ship Street and Broad Street. Exiting traffic using Park Street from Silver Beach and the Lions Park area will be directed south on Lake Boulevard to Lakeshore Drive.
Following the fireworks, motorists are asked to be patient and expect long delays.
