Sign Information and Applications

Fraud Alert: The City of St. Joseph has been notified of several fraudulent invoices pretending to be from City departments requesting payment via wire transfer. This is a scam—do not respond. If you receive any questionable communications from the City requesting payment, please call City Hall at 269-983-5541 prior to sending money.

Sign Permit requests are accepted, processed and issued by the Building Inspection Department.  The Community Development is responsible for reviewing applications prior to permits being issued.  Chapter 25 Signs of the Code of Ordinances provides the regulations for all permanent and temporary signage within the City.

In many cases staff is able to administratively approve a Sign Permit.  However, some requests require Planning Commission review and approval before a permit can be issued.
