Personal Property Information
Businesses in the City that own, lease, or use tangible personal property, such as equipment, furniture, fixtures, or machinery, must file one or more of the following forms each year. These filings are due annually by February 20 or the next business day if it falls on a weekend or holiday:
Form 632 – Personal Property Statement
A detailed inventory of all assessable personal property located in the City as of December 31, required for any business that does not qualify for an exemption.
Form 5076 – Small Business Property Tax Exemption Claim
Provides a personal property tax exemption under MCL 211.9o based on total value within the local unit:
* Under $80,000 True Cash Value
One-time filing; the exemption remains in effect until the business no longer qualifies.
* $80,000–$180,000 True Cash Value
Annual filing is required by February 20 to maintain the exemption.
Form 5618 – Request to Rescind Small Business Exemption
Must be filed if a business previously claiming the small business exemption exceeds the eligibility threshold or no longer qualifies.
