Fraud Alert: The City of St. Joseph has been notified of several fraudulent invoices pretending to be from City departments requesting payment via wire transfer. This is a scam—do not respond. If you receive any questionable communications from the City requesting payment, please call City Hall at 269-983-5541 prior to sending money.


About

Under Section 15.4 of the Zoning Ordinance and in accordance with the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act 110 of 2006, the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) is a quasi-judicial board that is responsible for the following:

  1. Conducts hearings and determines the outcome of dimensional variance requests associated with the Zoning Ordinance;
  2. Conducts hearings and determines the outcome of fence variations (Chapter 12 of the Code of Ordinances) requests;
  3. Decides appeals of administrative decisions pertaining to the Zoning Ordinance or Map; and
  4. Makes recommendation to Planning Commission for amendments to the Zoning Ordinance.

Meetings

The Zoning Board of Appeals meets the second Thursday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers, City Hall, 700 Broad St.

Membership

The Zoning Board of Appeals is made up of five voting members and two alternate members, appointed by the City Commission. All members are residents and serve a three-year term.
