The City of St. Joseph is currently accepting applications for the position of Water Filtration Plant Operator.  Under the general supervision of the Utilities Supervisor, the water filtration plant operator conducts and maintains the water filtration and pumping facility on a rotating shift, observes various gauges, meters and display screens to ensure that chemical additions, water flows and various water treatment processes are at optimum conditions, takes samples and performs routine laboratory tests. Will make adjustments to processes as directed or conditions indicate. The candidate chosen must possess or obtain within one year of hire a State of Michigan F-4 Water Filtration Certificate.  Must demonstrate a high ability for operational and mechanical skills . Must possess reading, writing, math, science and computer skills and be able to keep records of laboratory testing. College level courses preferred. Must be able to work alone on assigned rotational shift, work overtime and weekends.
