This position coordinates the planning, execution and management of all Parks and Recreation programs for citizens of all ages, along with the operation of the City ice arena. Directs a staff of temporary and permanent employees in department activities based on community interests and needs. In addition, maintains records, prepares a variety of comprehensive reports and assists in preparation of the annual department budget.

Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, organize and direct oneself and supervise others, communicate effectively with others both orally and written, provide courteous and effective service to the public while following City policy and procedures, perform the physical requirements of the job, ability to work variable hours, frequently evenings, weekends and holidays, have a current valid Michigan driver’s license.

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management or related field, three or more years of experience in the administration and operation of a recreation department with supervisory, promotion, marketing and budgetary experience.
