The City of St. Joseph is seeking an individual for the position of Engineering Department Summer Intern. This individual will work under the supervision of the City Engineer. Applicants shall possess a high school diploma, a valid Michigan driver’s license and shall be enrolled in a recognized curriculum at an institution of higher education in Civil Engineering or Construction Technology. 1-2 years of higher education ideal.
Applicants for this position should have the ability to read basic civil engineering and architectural drawings, be proficient with computer hardware and software such as Microsoft Office, computer-aided design, email and internet browser programs, be able to accurately measure and calculate such items as area, slopes and volumes and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D software, Esri ArcGIS, construction materials and procedures, construction documents, and inspection & testing procedures considered a plus.
This is a non-union part-time position that pays $15 per hour.
