Dedicated Officer Program

For the past 40 years the St. Joseph Police Department has been involved with Public Safety Education in our school system.

Currently we have two officers who are serving two elementary schools each and one officer who serves the high school. Those officers are responsible for public education that takes place in those schools, and in the case of our high school officer, assists the patrol and detective bureau with any investigations that involve students or crimes that have happened at the high school.

The elementary Dedicated Officers use close circuit t.v., classroom visits and large assemblies to convey safety messages to the boys and girls and from time to time will eat lunch with the students in the schools they are assigned to. Teachers wanting visits from a police officer for their students, they will get a visit from the officer who is assigned or dedicated to that school.

If you have any questions about these topics, please contact the City and we will be glad to help you.
