Summary of Findings
  1. RESIDENTS HAVE A STRONG DESIRE FOR INCREASING OUR PROPERTY MAINTENANCE PROGRAM AND TRYING TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF RENTALS IN TOWN.

  2. RESIDENTS HAVE A STRONG DESIRE TO MAINTAIN A "SMALL TOWN CHARM" BY STRIKING A PROPER BALANCE BETWEEN THE NEEDS OF OUR LOCAL RESIDENTS AND TOURISTS.

  3. RESIDENTS ARE ADAMANTLY OPPOSED TO ANY DEVELOPMENT THAT WILL BLOCK WATERFRONT VIEWS OR TAKE AWAY FROM THE VISTA OF BLUFF PARK.

  4. RESIDENTS WANT MAJOR STREET IMPROVEMENTS.

  5. RESIDENTS STRONGLY DESIRE NEW PROGRAM TO ATTRACT YOUNG FAMILIES TO THE CITY.

  6. THE NEED TO REDUCE TAXES REMAINS A LARGE CONCERN FOR MANY RESIDENTS.

  7. RESIDENTS WANT THE CITY COMMISSION TO CONTINUE THE EFFORTS OF PUBLIC ART DISPLAYS, BEAUTIFICATION, OPERATING THE WELCOME CENTER AND TOURISM AS A FORM OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.

  8. RESIDENTS WANT "STRONG CONTROLS" PLACED ON ANY NEW FESTIVAL OR THE EXPANSION OF ANY EXISTING FESTIVALS.

  9. RESIDENTS WANT AS MUCH "GREEN OPEN SPACE" AS POSSIBLE WITH THE PROPOSED BLUFFSIDE DEVELOPMENT.

  10. RESIDENTS DO NOT WANT TO LOSE OR SEE ANY REDUCTION IN LIBRARY SERVICES.

  11. OUT OF 20 CHOICES, RESIDENTS RANKED INCREASED POLICE SERVCE AS #15 AND INCREASED FIRE SERVICES AT #20.

  12. RESIDENTS WANT MORE DOWNTOWN PARKING.

  13. IMPROVING MILTON PARK RANKED #1 IN NEEDED PARK IMPROVEMENTS.

  14. RESIDENTS WANTS THE APPEARANCE OF MAIN STREET TO IMPROVE.

  15. OVERALL, 73% OF THE RESPONDENTS SUPPORT THE DIRECTION OF THE CITY OF ST. JOSEPH.
